Sports day Celebration -2024        

        On February 3rd, 2024, Dr. G S K Matric School was abuzz with excitement as it celebrated Sports Day with fervor and enthusiasm. The event aimed to promote fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit through a series of physical activities and healthy competition. Mrs.Priya Muralidharan, Trustee of GKR foundation and CEO, Rtn.Murali Rao graced the occasion, with their royal presence. The festivities commenced with a prayer, setting the tone for a day filled with camaraderie and sporting excellence. The Principal, Mr.Ganesan extended a warm welcome to the gathering, igniting the spirit of sportsmanship with inspiring words. Amidst thunderous applause the chief guest, Ms. K. Meena, IPS Superintendent of Police of Mayiladuthurai District was given a grandeur welcome and she unfurled the National flag,  symbolizing pride and unity.

        Following this, a parade, led by house captains, NCC cadets, and scouts and guides was displayed. The State-level athlete Selvi.Jayasanthiya had the honour of bringing the prestigious Olympic torch to the ground as part of the ceremonial relay. The oath-taking ceremony reaffirmed the core values of sportsmanship and fair play, while the enchanting "Saree Drill Dance" showcased the vibrant tapestry of Indian culture through graceful movements and intricate choreography.

        The day was filled with thrilling sports events, showcasing the talent and athleticism of participants across various disciplines. Abirami, of Grade X, presented the annual sports report with poise and enthusiasm, offering a comprehensive overview of the school's athletic achievements.

        Over 700 prizes were distributed to students in recognition of their dedication and achievements in the sporting arena, further motivating them to strive for excellence. Mrs. Priya Muralidharan, Trustee of the GKR Foundation, inspired the audience with her insightful words on the importance of sports in education. The Chief Guest Ms. K. Meena IPS, Superintendent of Police, Mayiladuthurai District, delivered an energizing address underscoring the significance of sports in fostering discipline and teamwork.

      The sports coordinator expressed gratitude to all participants, and organizers for their invaluable contributions. The day culminated with the singing of the National Anthem, leaving everyone filled with pride and a renewed commitment to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.
